Highlights from IDG Rhyan Virrey’s CLLS 2026 Message
Incoming District Governor Rhyan Virrey opened his message with gratitude, warmly acknowledging Past District Governors, guests, incoming district and club officers, The Legacy Presidents, and the Rotarians who gathered for the District Club Leadership Learning Seminar. He celebrated the strong turnout and spirit of fellowship, recalling the success of the Presidents-Elect Learning Seminar and the “Harana,” which brought together around 400 Rotarians.
A major highlight of his address was the encouraging news for District 3780: the district remains standing, united, and committed despite recent challenges. IDG Rhyan emphasized that the district is not suspended and not undistricted, describing the current moment as proof that reconciliation, unity, and collective sacrifice are beginning to bear fruit. His message was clear: District 3780 must continue to protect the district, safeguard every Rotarian’s interest, and remain focused on service rather than self-interest.
One of the most moving parts of his speech was his personal story from a service project in Payatas. He recalled meeting a hungry little girl who, instead of eating the meal box immediately, chose to bring it home to share with her siblings. That moment, he said, changed him deeply and taught him that generosity does not come from the size of one’s wallet, but from the size of one’s heart. For him, this became a defining reminder of the true meaning of “Service Above Self.”
IDG Rhyan also addressed the challenges surrounding the Rotary Center and the district’s reconciliation efforts. While the Rotary Center remains a work in progress under local government administration, he assured members that dialogue with the LGU will continue. He also announced that District 3780 now has a place it can call home at Tivoli Royale Clubhouse, which will serve as the District Office and venue for Rotary events.
For Rotary Year 2026–2027, he presented four key pillars: Membership, The Rotary Foundation, Public Image, and Innovation. For Membership, he called for a simple but meaningful goal: a net gain of one member per club, paired with the more difficult challenge of 100% retention. He reminded club leaders that people join Rotary for the cause, but they stay for the friendship.
For The Rotary Foundation, he challenged the district to be “Better than the Best” of the last five years, emphasizing that every contribution translates into lives saved, children educated, and communities uplifted. For Public Image, he stressed the power of storytelling, encouraging Rotarians to share their stories of impact so they can inspire the next generation of leaders.
Innovation was also a major theme. IDG Rhyan urged District 3780 to embrace artificial intelligence and modern tools to make Rotary work easier, smarter, and more efficient. He framed innovation not as a replacement for service, but as a way to give Rotarians more time and energy to serve better.
He reminded participants that the Club Leadership Learning Seminar is more than a gathering. Formerly known as DISTAS and DISLAS, CLLS is the training ground of leadership where vision becomes direction, uncertainty becomes clarity, and good intentions become structured, sustainable service. He challenged participants not just to attend, but to engage, ask questions, challenge ideas, and share experiences.
In closing, IDG Rhyan called for progressive reconciliation and genuine unity. He reminded Rotarians that the district’s future is not only about current leaders, but also about the youth, Interactors, and Rotaractors who are watching and learning from their example. His final call was for everyone to protect what District 3780 has built and secure it for the generations to come.
IDG Rhyan Virrey’s message was a call to unity, courage, and renewed service. It reminded District 3780 that despite trials, the district remains strong, resilient, and ready to create lasting impact through membership growth, stronger Rotary Foundation support, powerful storytelling, and innovation-driven leadership.
